Explore the majesty of Alerce Andino National Park, surrounded by ancient Alerce trees and diverse wildlife.
From the hotel, we head towards Puerto Montt, making our way to Alerce Andino National Park. Our excursion begins by following the peaceful shores of Lake Sargazo. As we progress along the trail, we reach observation points where we can admire ancient Alerce trees, some of which are up to 3,000 years old. These towering giants are true living monuments, considered among the oldest trees in the world.
As we venture deeper into the forest, we can appreciate the diversity of its vegetation, dominated by Alerce, Magellanic Coigüe, and Lenga trees. This natural setting immerses us in a unique atmosphere, characteristic of the southern Chilean forests.
The park is also home to a variety of wildlife, including the pudú, puma, güiña, and the curious monito del monte. We may also spot birds such as condors, huet-huets, kingfishers, cachuditos, and torcazas, or hear the distinctive drumming of the majestic Magellanic woodpecker.
This experience reminds us that we are exploring a place of great ecological value. Alerce Andino National Park not only harbors this rich biodiversity but is also part of the Temperate Rainforest Biosphere Reserve of the Southern Andes, an ecosystem that deserves to be preserved and protected.
